I was able to get my ghosts ready in time! I was able to pick them up early in the month to set them up on the mantel. they looked so cute!
On Halloween, I put them out on the frontyard, kinda small but I want to make more every year. Maybe more expressive ones as I get better at throwing closed forms. It was a rainy day, but I loved them!
Glaze Prep
I still had quite a bit of work this month so I could not spend too much time at the studio. But since I had so many bisqued pots waiting since July, I could take breaks and moments of downtime for glazing pots. I had some new glazes arrive recently, I got some Amaco ones! I also bought some thin masking tape to level up my glazing quality. It should make some very clean lines when glazing.
This first one is a test plate for Fool's Gold. The outer ring is specifically testing how this clay reacts to glazes under Spectrum Floating Pearl White. The inner circle is for glazes under Amaco Oatmeal.
Both are new flux glazes for me that I want to try now that I have an understanding on HoneyFlux. The inner circle has some three glaze layers, havent tried it yet but I am excited to try it out!
This one is a test of the Amaco glazes I got on the new porcelain clay I have been using. I am testing Smokey Merlot, Iron Luster, Chun Plum, Seaweed. All of these half height under oatmeal as well.
The "+" sections are the left glaze under the right glaze. I also put a brown underglaze spot to help me know what section to start looking at when referring to this image as the pencil markings will burn off.
This test piece is for seeing how Spectrum Pearl White reacts on top of glazes on Bmix clay. I have noticed the results on Bmix and porcelain are pretty similar. Porcelain just feels way softer and smoother when fully fired.
I am using pretty much all the colorful glazes I have liked so far. The goal is to compare it with Honey Flux results to see how I should be picking my flux glazes.

This was not glazed by me! :O I managed to get one of my friends (a very good artist) to give glazing a shot. I am so in love of this so far. Extremely terrified of it failing somewhere between the next two firings, but if it succeeds, its probably the prettiest pot we got!
And this is the result! They honestly look gorgeous?? I need to do this on my actual favorite pieces now. I got so much helpful info from these, who would have thought test pieces are helpful .-.
The plum black vase is a test I did not take a picture of. Its a test with Obsidian, Blue Hydrangea and some amaco glazes. I wanted to find a combo I liked to make a "Northen Lights" effect.
And the strawberry bowl survived! I love it so much!! I need to start trying to paint things on pots now. I'm no match for this, but maybe if I get back to drawing and doodling I can make some similar cute pieces.
These are some other pieces I glazed after my results from my test pieces!
These are results from a new clay I tried this month. Its a speckled Bmix! This is just clear glaze on it, somehow one of my favorite combos after all this testing.. lol..
